I know this technically isn't about Dark Souls but I thought most of us would appreciate this. The guys working on RPCS3 (PS3 emulator) have been making a lot of progress after opening a Patreon. The most recent update allowed Demon's Souls to run on the emulator itself. It seems to be playable, but suffers from audio glitches and FPS drops, and an loss in speed in some parts of the game, even with a high end PC. Still, it's better than nothing at all.

Just thought it was kinda interesting. Not less than a year ago I thought PS3 emulation would be nearly impossible for at least 5-10 years, yet here we are. I wonder if it would somehow be possible to restore the multiplayer functions of the game. I'm not upset.

I just thought I should point out that the ps3 isn't as modern as a lot of people tend to think it is. It makes sense that you would immediately think of it as a modern console since it was only replaced a few years ago, but due to the speed at which things change in the tech world calling it modern still is far from accurate.

I didn't mean to upset you, I just wanted to put that out there. Sorry you're getting down voted so much. I respect your opinion even though I disagree. I don't have a PS3 but I was lucky enough to play the game for 50 hours when I got my hands on one and tbh, the emulator has a long way to go. Judging from this footage, it looks unplayable for me, so the multiplayer functions should be out of question at this point. It really is promising though. It'd be awesome if upcoming patches imrove it drastically.

I couldn't get enough of that game. Got so many questlines to finish. Btw, I have no idea how emulation works so I probably cannot realise/appreciate how important this is.

I'd emulated several NES and PS2 games and they were satisfying enough. I'd be happy to play several hundred hours of this game's PvE alone if stable 30 fps is achieved.

The video is more or less just hype for the future of the emulator itself. The important thing to recognize is how extremely difficult it is to emulate a PS3/Xbox360. Both those consoles run on the PowerPC architecture as I understand, making it not binary compatible with most PCs, which run off x86 processors. To put it into perspective, most people thought we would have a fully working PS4/Xbox One emulator before having anything close to gameplay on any PS3 game, let alone something as big as Demon's Souls.

At the rate at which PS3 emulation has evolved, we might have fully playable DeS within the next few years, best case scenario.
